To mark the 20th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre, Rights & Democracy will host a roundtable featuring Rowena Xiaoqing He, researcher at Harvard University’s Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies, Charles Burton, political scientist from Brock University, and writer Cai Chonggu, who recently published J'étais à Tian An'men (L'Esprit du Temps, Paris, 2009). They will discuss whether the bloodshed at Tiananmen forever buried the possibility of a democratic China and what lessons can be drawn from the massacre.
