Fall is here and it's once again time for our annual retreat! Like in previous years, participants will be introduced to Rights & Democracy and its Network. They will gain key knowledge of human rights through innovative training workshops, and will discuss key issues with staff and guest speakers.

Sophie Rondeau has begun her maternity leave, and she has left the Network in good hands: Nelly Desrosiers was selected to be the Network's Liaison Officer. Elana will coordinate the Network this year while Sophie is away.
On July 30, hundreds of people between the ages of 16-28 will be descending upon Edmonton for the Global Youth Assembly (GYA) to enjoy youth-led workshops and world-class speakers.
Three members of the Network will participate in this year’s International Human Rights Training Program (IHRTP) in Montreal from June 14 to July 3, 2009. The IHRTP is organized by Equitas, a world-renowned organization devoted to human rights education.
Entitled “Celebrating our Successes, Building our Future: The Participation of Youth in Democratic Processes”, this event allows members and staff of the Network to look back at what was achieved in the last year, in order to build an even stronger Network for the years to come.
For the 5th consecutive year, the University of Vancouver Island Delegation presents the Student Film Award, in conjunction with the Nanaimo Global Film Fest and the Malaspina Media Studies Department.
